Michal Truelsen's work is inspired by history, architecture, and music. Recent work includes a series of prints and mixed-media pieces about Cortona, Tuscany, and its medieval Italian tunebook, still in use. She is currently making work on the subject of the textile mills of New England and the immigrants who came to work in them.
Her work has been called "dreamlike," "surrrealist," "mysterious and compelling." Sinuous line, expressive shadow, and bits of text, sometimes hidden, are part of her visual vocabulary.
Truelsen exhibits throughout the United States and in Italy. Samples of her work can be seen on the website of the Monotype Guild of New England <www.mgne.org>. She can be contacted by e-mail or phone, and is always happy to talk with art lovers, art seekers, and artists.
